ReutersFour people were killed and more than 1,300 evacuated as a torrential rainy kilogram of South Korea, with authorities warning that non -season flow would continue.
Among the killed were two men of their 80s. Authorities believe one of them is trying to drain the floods from the basement of their home.
A third victim was crushed when a wall collapsed on his car. Moments before that he called his wife to say that the vehicle was “swept”, the authorities say. The fourth victim died of cardiac arrest.
“I couldn’t figure out how something like that could happen,” says Kim Ha-Min, the owner of a cafe in Guandzhu. She says this is the first time she has experienced such heavy rain.

ReutersRecord rainfall prompted the South Korea government to raise the time-related disaster signal to its highest level.
“Everything is covered by water except the roof (of my house),” a resident wrote in one of the affected areas online.
More than 400 mm of rain poured in just half a day into Soosan, the worst affected city, along the western coast of the meteorological agency, described it as an event once in the century.
Photos and videos on social media show vehicles and homes, submerged, with furniture floating in the water.
Da Kim in Guandzhu, which recorded 426 mm rainfall on Thursday, said she was scared because “I have never seen a flood before, since there is no stream or river in this neighborhood.”
The 26-year-old had to close his cafe after it was flooded with water waters: “I drained the water, but the smell of the sewer is so bad that I cannot open for a business.”
Kim ha-minSeveral injuries have been reported across the country, including two people suffering from hypothermia and two others who suffered injuries to their feet.
At 16:00 local time (07:00 GMT) on Thursday, over 1300 people were evacuated.
Authorities urged people to stay away from river shores, steep slopes and underground spaces, warning that the risk of landslides and lightning floods remained high.
Dry air from the northwest, mixed with hot and humid air from the south, to the formation of particularly large clouds, says the South Korea Meteorological Administration.
But the forecasts expect high temperatures to return next week, with the possibility of heat wave.
