The abductors in Nigeria have killed at least 35 people who have abducted from a village in North State, although the rams have been paid for their release, a local employee told the BBC.

In recent years, criminal gangs in the region known in the country as bandits have taken to abduct people as a means of raising money.

In this incident, 56 people were taken from the village of Bangga, the area of local self -government Kauran Namoda in March. At that time, the artillerymen demanded a ransom of one million Naras ($ 655; 485 British pounds) of a prisoner, a media report in Nigeria.

Local Governor President Maniru Haidara Kaura said most of the killed were young people who were “killed like rams.”

“What happened was that the bandits asked for money from ransom, and after some back and back, they were given what they wanted. Then 18 people, including 17 women and a young boy, were released, on Saturday,” Hydara added.

“Only they (the artillerymen) know why they were killed. They are meaningless and heartless people. They forget that they kill their own brothers, and we will all meet before Allah.”

Sixteen of the released on Saturdays are in the hospital who receive treatment, while the bodies of 38 killed by the bandits are unlikely to be returned, as in these cases that the corpses are rarely released.

In an attempt to restrict the spiral and the lucrative abduction industry, a law was passed in 2022, which made him a crime to commit ransom payments. He has been sentenced to prison for at least 15 years, but no one has ever been arrested on these charges.

He also made the abduction punishable by death in cases where the victims die.

But families often feel forced to pay to save their loved ones, citing the government’s inability to guarantee their safety.
