Five killed in the mass shooting of the Bangkok market

Five people were killed in a mass shooting of food market in Bangkok on Monday.

The suspect in the attack of or Tor Kor Market took his life, police confirmed in the capital of Thailand.

Four of the killed were guards and the fifth was working on the market. The other two sellers on the market have been injured, police said.

Police lieutenant Siam Bonsum told local media that the artilleryman was Thai and he had disputes with the market guards before.

He also said the shooting was not related to Thailand’s current conflict with CambodiaS

The market or Tor Kor sells mostly fresh fruits and seafood.

The degree of ownership of weapons in Thailand is relatively high in the region, and incidents with mass shooting are not common, but the country has been observed by several deadly incidents in recent years.

In 2023, a 14-year-old boy killed two people and wound five others when shooting at a luxury shopping center in downtown Bangkok.

Former Polyk killed at least 37 people, most of them, with a pistol attack and a knife at a children’s center in Nong Boa Lamhu province in Northeast Thailand in October 2022.

In 2020, a soldier killed 29 people and wounds more in the town of Nahon Ratchasima.
