Thailand accused Cambodia of “deliberate”, violating the cessation of fire that the two sides agreed on Monday to end the boundaries of clashes that killed at least 33 people and displaced thousands.
It is a trembling start to end the fire, which was intended to end five days of bombing and rocket attacks along the common border.
The Thai military says he has stopped shooting after midnight, but that he continues to receive the Cambodian firing “in many places” until this morning.
But the Cambodia Ministry of Defense told the AFP news agency that there was no “without armed clashes” between the two countries, since the cessation of the fire began at midnight.
A meeting between local commanders, which was part of the fire termination agreement, was postponed twice and may not happen at all.
Tensions between Southeast Asia countries over their centuries -old controversial border appeared in May when a Cambodian soldier was killed in a collision.
They escalated in complete conflict last week after five Thai soldiers were injured in a mines explosion. Thailand closed some of his border crossroads, expelled the Cambodian ambassador and recalled his own from Pnom Pen.
After the two sides exchanged firing early Thursday, Cambodia launched numerous rockets in Thailand, killing several civilians.
More civilians were killed on both sides in the coming days, and tens of thousands were more evacuated into shelters.
The intense fire exchange between the two armies continued until midnight on Monday, the deadline for termination of fire, with Thailand launched more air strikes in Cambodic positions.
But on Tuesday morning, before Thailand claims that the termination of the fire was disturbed, Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet said “the front lines have been relieved” from midnight.
Under the agreement, both parties agreed to withdraw their armies and accept some independent monitoring to prevent more clashes.
Hong Manet and his Thai counterpart Phumham Wechayachai met on Malician in Malaysia at a meeting, mediated by his leader Anwar Ibrahim.
The ahead of Cambodia insisted on ending the fire, and his leader called it a very good meeting.
Thailand, who was not initially inclined to negotiate, agreed after US President Donald Trump threatened to stop the tariff negotiations until Thailand and Cambodia stopped fighting.
In fact, the argument between Thailand and Cambodia dates more than a century when the borders of the two nations were drawn after the French occupation of Cambodia.
Things officially became hostile in 2008, when Cambodia tried to register an 11th -century temple, located in the disputed zone as the UNESCO World Heritage Site, a move that was met with a heated protest from Thailand.
Over the years, there have been sporadic clashes that have seen soldiers and civilians killed on both sides.
The last tension appeared in May after a Cambodian soldier was killed in a collision. This immersed bilateral ties with its largest point for more than a decade.
Over the last two months, both parties have imposed limit restrictions on top of one another. Cambodia banned imports from Thailand such as fruits and vegetables and stopped importing power and internet services.
Both sides have also strengthened the presence of troops at the border in recent weeks.
