Privacy-Centric Productivity Equipment Organization Proton has been released A new authentication app Today, users allow to log in to services using dynamic biennial authentication codes.
Free apps are available on all the platforms that start today, including iOS, Android, Windows, Macos and Linux. The app allows users to sync codes and accounts across the device. The company said that like its other products, the proton authenticator uses the last to end encryption to protect the Open Source and user data.
Users can easily import login codes from other authentication applications, the company said. Also, the app automatically backs the codes and works without any internet connection.

“Bi-factor authentication is essential for everyone who is not careful about their privacy,” said Eman Magu, the chief of the proton account security.
“We believe that strong protection should never come to the cost of your convenience or privacy that is why we have developed proton authentication: to give users the peace of mind that they need 2 FA codes wherever they need them, we are not only controlling the users on their data, but they are not only adding their online accounts.
Bi-factor authentication using an app provides the additional level of users’ protection to prevent the attackers from taking accounts. Although SMS-based bi-factor authentication is another option, it is often risky for SIM attack attacks, so that the attackers can prevent your calls and messages.
