Texas Governor Greg Abat said he was taking legal action to remove from dozens of Democrats who had fled the state to block a plan to redirect election borders.
He brought a case to the Supreme Court of Texas, who wants to fire democratic legislator Jean Wu, whom he called “Ringleader” a plot to “abduct” the state government.
While the submission focuses on Wu, Abbot said in a statement that leaving more than 50 Democrats would “be a abandonment of their office, justifying them to be eliminated.”
The re -map of the Congress will create five more republican places in the House of US Representatives in Washington, where Republicans have a thin majority.
Gerimandering – the redirection of electoral borders to support the political party – is a practice of both Democrats and Republicans across the country over the years.
But usually countries undergo a redistribution every 10 years when the voting cards are diverted to take into account changes in the population noted in the US census. The Texas last re -denied its congress lines in 2021, just after the 2020 census, and it will usually not change these lines until the next population counts after five years.
“The Texas House Democrats have abandoned their obligation to the Texas and there must be consequences,” the governor said in a statement.
At least two-thirds of the 150-member state legislative body in Texas must be present in order to continue the vote. The quorum became unattainable after democratic MPs fled the state over the weekend.
“The court’s decision will determine whether only one third of the legislature can dictate the result for 100% of Texas,” the court said.
He claims: “Most people who are repeatedly failed to appear for work are fired. Public officials must be kept to the same standard.”
The submission asks the highest court of the state to provide a rarely used Quo Warranto document to expel the WWTP from its office.
Quo Warranto is a lawsuit used to resolve a dispute over whether a specific person has a legal right to hold a public office.
The trial came a day after the Republican governor ordered the absent Democrats to be arrested and return to the State House in order to continue the redistribution of redistribution.
At an event at the White House on Tuesday, President Donald Trump said the FBI “may need to” help Texas authorities in finding and arresting legislators.
“I know they want them back, not only the Attorney General … The Texas Governor wants to come back. So many people require them to come back,” Trump said.
Wu, who is the chairman of the Democratic Coach of Texas, told Texas tribun The fact that denying a quorum was not a “abandonment of my office” but a “performance of my oath”.
He accused Abbot of seeking to “silence my disagreement by eliminating a duly selected employee from office” and claiming that “my constitutional duty is not to be a participant.”
The trial asks the Supreme Court of Texas, dominated by the Republicans, to issue its decision by 5:00 pm local time on Thursday-one day before the chamber session is planned to resume.
All nine judges in the Supreme Court of Texas are Republican, and the Chief Judge was earlier ABB General.
Texas General Prosecutor Ken Paxon, who is taking a separate action so that the Democrats’ places can be declared “free”, said the legal process would be long and withdrawn on Monday.
Paxon told the conservative podcactor Benny Johnson that in order to eliminate legislators, separate lawsuits will have to be filed against each of their individual cities.
“We will have to go through a lawsuit and have to apply that maybe in areas that are not friendly to the Republicans,” Paxon said. “So this is a challenge because each area would be different.”
Democrats defended their decision to break the quorum.
Speaking to BBC News by Chicago, Texas Democrat Ana-Maria Rodriguez Ramos said: “We must use every instrument we have … to continue to defend our democracy.”
Trump called on Republicans in Texas in the process of redistribution.
He told CNBC on Tuesday: “I got the highest vote (last year) in the history of Texas, as you probably know, and we are entitled to five more places.”
Now Democrats throughout the country are threatening to increase the ante with Tit-Tactics tactics, even though they face legitimate obstacles.
Democrats in California want to reshape their own district cards and throw five republican places, although voters will have to approve such a plan. The Democrats in Wisconsin filed lawsuits last month, who wanted to redistribute themselves.
New York’s democratic governor also wants to be redistributed, but this will require a change in the state constitution.
Republican governors in Florida and Missouri expressed their willingness to redistribute the places of congress in these states.
The Republicans in Ohio will draw a new map that can fight at least two democratic places before the intermediate elections next year.
