I received a question from the reader last week that resulted in good discussions, so I thought I would share it with you here! They wrote:

“I think I know what to do with exercises, but a diet? I’m not sure where to start.”

Don’t worry, I got you! 💪

In Nerd Fitness We see most of our clients fall into one of three Starting points when it comes to diet:

🥦 Option 1: Habits based (about 50% of people)

We choose one Small habit – like a fare for breakfast or preparing meals – and laser focus on this change to one change for a few weeks and follow how it goes.

Once it feels firmly, we add next. Slow and stable but incredibly effective.

✅ Excellent for: People who want to build sustainable habits without flooded.

Of course, you may think of yourself: “That’s great, Matt, but What habits do I actually start?

Is different to a person for a person on the basis of which your current dishes of meals, your goals, etc., but Steve and I compose Recommended order here. Of course, just like a pirate code, you mean these less like rules and more like guidelines.

🍽 Option 2: Balanced Tile Method (about 25% of people)

This is a Visual way to structure Your meals, targeting:

  • ¼ protein board
  • ½ a vegetable board or fruit
  • ¼ a plate of carbohydrate or starch
  • Healthy fats on top

It is flexible, so it is a little easier to apply in different situations – whether you cook or eat out. Probably the biggest challenge with this type of follow up is if you have a lot of great “one pot” dishes where all the ingredients are listed together. Although we have A few tricks for thatAlso.

✅ Excellent for: People who want structure, but they don’t want to track numbers.

🔢 Option 3: Calories for monitoring and protein (about 25% of people)

This involves recording your meals and targeting certain goals every day.

We usually suggest starting with just protein and calories to simply keep it.

✅ Excellent for: people who love data, structure and choosing things in precision dialing.

Here are things:

The best option is the one that fits You.

Some of our customers move through all three with time.

Heck, I had clients starting with habits, and then use the board method, then decide to do a little and then return to habits.

All these frames are just tools – so we want to choose the right to work (ie the one that suits you best!)

🧠 If you are not sure where to start, try Changes based on habits First.

But if that feels too slow or too vague? Rotate to another approach!
