Ghetto imagesIsrael’s security cabinet approved a Gaza control plan in controversial escalation of his war in Gaza.
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians live in the city in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. It was the most populated city of enclave before the war.
The plan is facing a fierce opposition within Israel – including military officials and hostage families – and the international community.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had told Fox News earlier that Israel plans to occupy the entire strip of gas And in the end, “pass it on to Arabic forces.” It’s very unclear, but here’s what we know about the new plan.
The plan – or the “five principles of termination of war” includes:
IDF said the military would be preparing to take control of the city of Gaza while providing humanitarian assistance to “civil population outside the combat zones”.
It is unclear whether this is a new help and whether it will be provided by the controversial humanitarian foundation “Israel” and supported by the US or other mechanism.
Prior to the cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said he wanted Israel to control the entire gas.
The new plan mentions only the city of Gaza.
Israel said it currently controls 75% of gas, while the UN estimates about 86% of the territory or is in militarized areas or in evacuation orders.
The plan aims to get the forces to move in order to take control of the largest city in the enclave for the first time during this conflict.
It is home to a million inhabitants and is surrounded by a land that has already been under the control of IDF or is subject to an evacuation order.
City control is likely to be the first phase of complete large -scale absorption of the Gaza tape, our Middle East correspondent Hugo Basga said.
There are also some speculation that the threat of full occupation can be part of the strategy to press on Hamas to make discounts in stagnation.
Netanyahu told Fox News that Israel “does not want to keep it” and intends to hand it over to “Arabian forces”.
“We want to have a security perimeter. We don’t want to manage it,” he told the exit.
Israel did not say when the ingestion would start, but reports in the Israeli media suggest that the military would not move immediately to Gaza – and residents would have to be evacuated first.
Israel said he believed that the “alternative plan” presented on his office would not “achieve the defeat of Hamas or the return of the abducted.”
However, it is not clear what the alternative plan is or who filed it. The Israeli media reports that this is a more limited proposal by the head of the Army Headquarters.
Netanyahu is “deliberately vague” because of which Arab powers it may be, according to the BBC’s chief international correspondent, as it was in the past with its plans for gas.
He may refer to the Jordanians and the Egyptians, who said they were ready to work with Israel – but they made it clear that they would not enter the gas on the back of Israeli occupation.
No more details have been shared about the Gaza Government’s time line after taking up and Hamas has not yet answered the plan.
Netanyahu is facing increasing criticism by hostage families and world leaders.
For some time, Israel’s military leadership has said that their work in Gaza is being carried out as Hamas no longer poses a threat as an organized military force.
The United Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Kiir Starmer called Israel’s escalation “wrong” and that it would only bring more bloodshed. ”
Israel’s decision to expand military operations in Gaza is a “Declaration of War Crime,” said Palestinian National Initiative President Mustafa Bargutti.
Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said Israel aims to “forcefully displace the Palestinians from its own land” while Finland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen said he hoped to immediately end the gas fire and the immediate release of Israeli hostages.
Australia also called for restraint, with Foreign Minister Penny Wong saying that the absorption of Gaza “will only make worsening the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.”
The head of UN Human Rights, Volker Turk, says that “the war in Gaza must end now” and warns that the more escalation “will lead to a more massive forced displacement, more killings, more unbearable sufferings, meaningless destruction and crimes crimes.”
The headquarters of the hostage family forum said the decision “leads us to a colossal disaster for both hostages and for our soldiers.”
There are some reports that Americans have given Netanyahu ahead to conquer the city of Gaza.
But it is worth noting that NBC News reported a fiery telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Netanyahu in late July – something that the president called “fake news”.
