First lady Melania Trump has threatened to sue Hunter Biden for more than $ 1 billion after he claims to have been introduced to her husband by sexual criminal Jeffrey Epstein.
The lawyers acting on behalf of the First Lady, who married US President Donald Trump in 2005, described the claim as “false, neglectful, defamatory and inflammatory.”
Biden, the son of former US president Joe Biden, made the comments during an interview earlier this month, in which he severely criticized the former president’s relationship with Epstein.
Donald Trump was a friend of Epstein, but said the couple fell in the early 2000s as the financier was poaching staff who worked at the Trump Golf Center in Florida.
A letter from the first lady’s lawyers and addressed to Hunter Biden’s lawyer requires him to withdraw the claim and apologize, or to face court action for “over $ 1 billion in compensation”.
It says that the first lady suffered “prevailing financial and reputable damage” because of the claim he repeated.
He also accuses Biden’s most decade of Biden for having a “huge history of trading in the names of others” and repeating the claim “to attract attention to himself.”
During a broad interview with director Andrew Kalajan, published earlier this month, Hunter Biden claims that unprecedented Epstein-related documents will “find” President Trump.
He said, “Epstein introduced Melania to Trump – the connections are so wide and deep.” The first lady’s legal letter notes that the claim is partially attributed to Michael Wolf, a journalist who is the author of a critical biography of the president.
In a recent interview with the US Outlet The Daily Beast, Wolff reports that the first lady was known to an associate of Epstein and Trump when she met her current husband.
Later, the outcome withdrew the story after receiving a letter from the first lady’s lawyer, which disputes the content and framing of the story.
There is no evidence that the couple was represented to each other by Epstein, who took their own life in prison while waiting for a court trial in 2019.
In the legitimate letter of the first lady, Hunter Biden is accused of reading an article after being the basis of his allegations, which he describes as “false and defamatory.”
A message about the archived version of The Daily Beast Online Story reads: “After the publication of this story, the Beast received a letter from first lady’s lawyer Melania Trump, disputing the title and framing of the article.
“After reviewing the question, the beast dropped the article and apologizes for confusion or misunderstanding.”
Asked about the legal threat, first lady’s lawyer Alejandro Brito directed the BBC news in a statement issued by her assistant Nick Clemens.
He reads: “First lady’s lawyers Melania Trump actively guarantee immediate withdrawal and excuses from those who spread malicious, defamatory lies.”
Profile of January 2016 from Harper’s bazaar She reported that the first lady met her husband in November 1998 at a party hosted the founder of a modeling agency.
55 -year -old Melania Trump told the publication that he refused to give him his phone number as he was “date”.
The profile said that Trump recently split from his second wife, Marla Maples, with whom he divorced in 1999, had previously been married to Ivana Trump between 1977 and 1990.
The BBC contacted Hunter Biden’s lawyer.
The legal letter comes after weeks of pressure on the White House to release the so -called Epstein files, previously undisclosed documents related to the criminal investigation against the convicted pedophile.
Before he was re -elected, Trump said he would release the records if he returned to office, but in July the FBI and the Ministry of Justice said that there was no “incriminating” list of Epstein Associates clients in July.
