Trump-Putin Hail Alaska Summit fails to reach a breakthrough

The high -bet summit on Friday between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin of Russia did not lead to a breakthrough, even when Trump described the summit as “productive” while Putin offered another meeting in Moscow.

“There were many, many points we agreed about … I would say a few big ones that we didn’t get there, but we made some progress,” Trump said at a joint press conference with Putin. The leaders did not take any questions from the press.

Putin called the conversations as a “starting point”, both to resolve the conflict with Kiev and to improve relations with Washington, which he said “fell to the largest point after the Cold War.”

Trump called Putin’s observations “deep” and added that he would talk to NATO and Zelenski to update them about discussions with Russia. “After all, it depends on them,” he said.

“Many points have been agreed. There are only very few that are left. Some are not so significant. One is the most significant, but we have a very good chance of getting there,” Trump said without improving.

After the invasion of Russia in Ukraine in 2022, numerous circles of peace talks were carried out, but there was no breakthrough for the end hostilities.

The Russian media were optimistic on Friday before Putin’s meeting with Trump, with the summit being considered as a victory for Moscow.
