US President Donald Trump left Alaska without a deal to end the war in Ukraine after meeting with high bets with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

“There is no deal until there is a deal,” Trump told the world media after the meeting, adding that “great progress” was achieved, but “we didn’t get there.”

During his flight back to Washington, he called with President of Ukraine Volodimir Zelenski, who later stated that he would travel to Washington on Monday. European leaders were also on call.

Despite the fanfare around the summit – Trump’s confidence in the ability to end fire – no tangible progress was made to resolve war in Ukraine.

Each stage of the arrival of the leaders at the Joint base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage was carefully choreographed.

Putin, who is brought before an international criminal court for arrest for alleged war crimes in Ukraine, gave way to his aircraft and on a red carpet to be met by Trump.

Above the roar of the B2 bomber over their heads, the two leaders posed for photos before climbing the Trump presidential vehicle known as the beast.

But despite the competitions and public shows of genius -as well as the Kremlin’s more rating that the meeting could last six or seven hours -Trump and Putin came out less than three hours later only with a joint statement in front of the press.

Handshakes and shared limous

Putin said that in order to make “a village permanently and long -term, we need to remove the root causes of the conflict” in Ukraine.

The phrase pointed out that Putin did not give up his long -standing position that Ukraine should withdraw from four regions, partially occupied by Russia – Donetsk, Luhansk, Herson and Procerns – and refused to join the NATO Military Union.

Zelenski ruled out the retreat from the four areas that are embarking on, warns that it will leave the door open to robbery Russia to install another offensive in the future. Moscow launched its full -scale invasion of Ukraine more than three years ago after annexing the Crimean Peninsula in 2014.

Putin also called on Ukrainians and Europeans to “do not throw a wrench” in the peace process. Trump remained silent as his guest spent about eight minutes, turning to the media.

After receiving the floor, the US president said he had “fantastic relations with President Putin. Vladimir”, moving to the first name of the Russian leader.

Although “many points were agreed,” he said “several” remains, adding that “one is the most significant” – without specifying what this point for the keys is. None of them took questions.

The two also did not attend the planned bilateral “working lunch”, which was to follow the conversations.

An interview with Fox News after the meeting offered several additional details.

The meeting went “very well,” Trump said to host Sean Haniti, adding “We might have a good result”.

Targeting Alaska’s meeting, Trump threatened “very grave consequences” If his Russian counterpart did not agree to end the war. In July, he said he would impose 100% secondary tariffs aimed at other trade partners of Russia if the peace deal with Ukraine was not achieved within 50 days.

But in question on Fox News about where the meeting left these threats, Trump said, “We shouldn’t think about it today.”

“Maybe in two weeks, three weeks,” he said, “But the meeting went very well.”

Asked about a possible tripartite summit, including Zelenski, Trump said, “They both want me there and I will be there,” without giving a meeting or a meeting place.

Obviously absent from the Alaska meeting was the Ukrainian leader, who, like Putin, sparked a number of Trump reactions since he returned to the Oval Office.

The two had a prolonged call back to Washington, before other NATO leaders, including the United Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Kiir Starmer, joined the conversation.

Zelenski said he would travel to Washington on Monday to meet Trump and support Trump’s proposal for a tripartite meeting.

He noted “positive signals from the US side regarding participation in guaranteeing the security of Ukraine” – something that European allies require as part of combined efforts to prevent another conflict.

Those in Ukraine May sigh relief that no deal has been achieved to give way to Russia.

But they can also be worried that Putin continues to use rhetoric, which seeks to justify the original purpose of the invasion – to dismantle Ukraine as an independent state.
