Device searches at the US border hit record high, new data shows

According to new government statistics, US border agents searched more electronic devices during the three months of time than before.

The Data show The immigration screening agency on the US border has searched 14,899 devices in international travelers from April to June, from April to June, with 17% of the previous records recorded in the early 2022.

Most of these searches are “Basic”, where US border agents claim passwords on the traveler device and find its contents without using the equipment.
