Blue Origin and Anduril have signed a new study with the US Air Force to find out how their technology can transfer military cargo around the world.
Under the Air Force Rocket Cargo Program, the contracts are relatively small – Blue Origins come to $ 1.37 million and Anduril’s $ 1 million. However, they may be the first step in revolutionizing how the Pentagon transports the cargo. Studying agreements like these are also a strong signal that players will later compete for the larger dollar fund.
Anduril’s deal is especially interesting and suggests that the Defense Startup is turning a completely new business line.
Two awards are covered by the Global Agreel Logistics (Rigal) program for the US Air Force Research Laboratory Rocket Examination. Blue Origin did not respond to TechCrunch’s request for comments, and a spokesperson for Anduril operated TechCrunch on the AFRL.
The regal is the AFRL’s larger rocket cargo program test forces, which focus on “distributing as service” through orbit transport. DOD wants to collect these powers through a similar Air Force Service-Dharm Agreement on how commercial airlines agree. The goal of the Regal Program is to prove commercial, reusable rockets, retry systems and cargo transport systems to be able to supply to distant or hard-to-rich theaters in less than an hour.
Although there is not much public information about the work opportunity or timeline of the regal, there are some interesting information for requests for the inherent proposals of the award.
According to the List of the Spurs Awards, the Blue Agreement is to analyze how its technology can support “point-to-point material transport”. The listed space of the performance is the blue houses of Merit Island, Florida, Space Coast and where it is developing heavy-lift new glen rocket.
The design study agreement of the Andurille, which also comes under the regal, was awarded under separate calls for “Astronomical Development and Protests Pay -load Tenor”.

Overall, however, the number of vendors who can provide this power is limited.
News of the two agreements, which were not reported, followed the rocket lab’s own regular agreement, which was announced earlier this year. The agreement clearly has a flight demonstration, though the AFRL quantity did not publish other details of the award.
If the rocket cargo services are mature, the Pentagon can buy “Delivery as” service “, climb a lot of commercial heavy rockets and return to the earth inside the capsule for quick offload. In the long run, the AFRL says the program may include even people’s point-to-point transport.
