Spotify is introducing a way to chat with your friends in the app to become a more social content cost app.
Users have shared spotify links for music and podcasts with others outside the platform for years. With this feature, spotFi users want to do more in the app as well as keep the history of the content shared, so that users do not have to look for any songs.
Messages are just one by one and you can just start chatting with someone with whom you have shared content before. This means that if you have any partist with any of you or join a jam or mixture, you can start a conversation with them. This also applies to any family or two plans with you. Once you send a request, they need to approve of it to start the conversation.

Beyond spotify, if someone sends spotify link to platforms like Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat or Ticket, you can tap it on it and approve their chat request. Alternatively, you can send an invitation link to any of your contacts.
The company says users should continue to share content outside the spotify and the new message feature is a “complementary” for it.

Users can access the messages by taping their profile pictures and accessing the conversation under the message section of the hover bar located on the left. They can also respond to specific messages using emoji.
The company says the messages are resting and encrypted in transit; The messages, however, are not protected by the end to the end. The company is actively showing the messages to check if the company is breaking their rules. What’s more, Spotify says that users can report messages and the company will investigate these messages against its service and platform rules.
