President Donald Trump has canceled the defense of the secret service, which was arranged for Kamala Harris by Joe Biden, before leaving his post, according to one of her advisers.

As a former Vice President, Ms Harris has the right to receive six months from this additional security after leaving the post in January, which was due to expire in July.

Her protection was extended for another year by the Executive Directive signed by her former boss, but this was canceled by Trump in a note seen by the BBC, which was dated Thursday.

This move comes just weeks before Harris embarks on a national book tour to promote “107 days” – a memoir of her short -lived and ultimately unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2024.

A copy of a letter seen by the BBC, of August 28, directs the secret service to “terminate all security-related procedures, previously authorized by the enforcement memorandum, in addition to those required by law” for Harris on September 1.

A senior White House official confirmed this move.

Sources familiar with the situation said CBS, a BBC news partner, that a recent threat evaluation did not establish anything anxious to guarantee the expansion of her details after a legally legally entitled period to which she was entitled.

In 2008, the US Congress adopted a law that allows the secret service to provide protection for former vice presidents, their spouses and any children under the age of 16 after leaving office.

It has been a little over seven months since Harris left the post at the end of Joe Biden administration in January.

Harris’s husband, Doug Emhof, ended his own defense on July 1 at the end of the legal authorized period.

Harris will lose the agents who are appointed to protect her and her property in Los Angeles, as well as a proactive intelligence threat made to identify and pre -release any potential threats.

The cost of such protection, if funded privately, can add millions of dollars a year.

California governor Gavin Newm and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expressed outrage at the message.

“This is another act of revenge after a lost list of political revenge in the form of dismissal, withdrawal of security permits and others,” G -Ja Bass told CNN, which for the first time reported history.

The mayor of LA said that this puts Harris in danger and she will make sure she is safe in Los Angeles.

Upon his return to the White House in January, Trump canceled the protection of the secret services for a number of people, including Hunter and Ashley Biden, the children of the former president, and Anthony Facuki, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Several former Trump and allies officials have also canceled their defense, including former state state -owned Mike Pompeo and John Bolton, a former national security advisor who has become a voice critic.

Harris has been confronted with a few security threats during his service, and former secret service employees said the dangers are complicated by the fact that she is the first woman and the first person to serve in the office.

In August 2024, for example, a man from Virginia was accused of making online threats of murder, abduction or injury to Harris and former President Barack Obama.

With an earlier incident in 2021, the 39-year-old Florida pleaded guilty to a threat against Harris after admitting that she had sent videos to her husband to prison, in which she showed a weapon and said “strikes” can take place within 50 days.
