North Korea leader, Kim Jong Un, met with the families of soldiers who killed the struggle for Russia against Ukraine and expressed their “deep condolences”, state media.

At a special ceremony held on Friday, Kim was spotted comforting families of the victims and presented them with portraits of their dead relatives wrapped in the flag of North Korea.

South Korea believes that the North has sent about 15,000 soldiers to support Russia’s war with Ukraine, along with long -distance missiles and weapons. In return, it is believed that North Korea has received food, money and technical assistance.

North Korea recognized his role in the foreign conflict in April, admitting that some of his soldiers had been killed.

In January, Western officials told BBC They believed that at least 1000 of the troops sent from North Korea were killed in three months, with several thousand more profound but more recent estimates approaching the number to 600 killed.

The Friday ceremony was the second of its kind in a week. During the event, Kim said he was filled with “grief”, managing to return the soldiers alive, promising to build a monument in their honor and to care for their children.

“I thought a lot about the families of other martyrs who did not attend (at the previous ceremony) … So this meeting was settled, as I wanted to meet and comfort the injured families of all the characters and release them from their grief and grief even a little,” Kcna reports.

Kim must meet with Russian Vladimir Putin in China next week when he travels to visit a military parade marking Japan’s show during World War II.

This will be their third meeting in two years at a time when Moscow and Pyongyang deepen their cooperation and relations between the two countries have reached a new level.

Last October, Kim sent Russian leader Vladimir Putin birthday messages, calling him his closest companion.

The same month, Putin introduced a bill to ratify a military pact, which he made with Kim, which promises that Russia and North Korea will help each other in the case of “aggression” against each of the two countries.

North Korea could have about 1.28 million active soldiers, but until the deployment of Ukraine, his army had no recent experience in combat operations abroad.
