I remembered the month of December. This month, we’ve got a beefy gaming tower Origin PC And a reprise Handheld MSI Claw Which redeems a lot of what we didn’t like about the last generation. We’ve also finished our long-term review of Google Pixel Watch 3Which was such a hit that I bought the 45mm version straight away. we too Check out a watch That can help with rolling the dice.
There were some bummers, too. They didn’t make this roundup, but they still got a shout-out. Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook Plus It’s light as a feather, but its gorgeous AMOLED display is limited if limited to a 60Hz refresh rate and on a laptop that suggests you stream games with it. Acer has also shown that it can make some nice OLED displays for its laptops, though Swift 16 AI A major no-no as a complete package. Plus, a PSA for smart ring wearersEspecially for those who got a Samsung Galaxy Ring for Christmas and are wondering about its durability.
It’s next month CES 2025. We are already fielding stories about what will position the industry as next and new. As artificial intelligence pervades everything, it will involve much of it as a selling point. If you’re looking to upgrade your home entertainment setup, now would be a great time to tune in, as all the new TV and smart home tech is out. And don’t forget the weird stuff, like Laptops that roll up and out Give you more screen space. We expect next month’s roundup to brighten things up as we head into the thaw.

In our long-term review update, I finally gave the Pixel Watch 3 the full score it deserves. It’s worth a trade-in if you’re still debating whether or not to get a Pixel Watch. It comes in two screen sizes, large (41mm) and large (45mm), and offers better battery life and health tracking than the first two generations. It’s still not a perfect watch. For example, unlike the Apple Watch ecosystem, Google’s proprietary Watchband connectivity makes it hard to find a neat knockoff to swap out. But even if you don’t use Fitbit, it’s the best smartwatch in the Android ecosystem.

This was not a complete review though A big hit among this month’s Gizmodo recommendations. Kyle took the Timestop D-20 to PAX Unplugged, quickly becoming his “Gaming Gadget of 2024.” The clock tells time and pretends to roll dice. It looks cool, wears comfortably and is designed with RPG and board gamers in mind. The watch probably wouldn’t be accepted as dice in a modern RPG, but you don’t have to charge it every night like you would a smartwatch.

The Origin PC Neuron 3500X is a solid gaming machine with top-end specifications. Its quiet fans facilitate excellent airflow and the RGB lighting makes the case look like a 90s fish tank. But even with its discounted high cost, it could be more robust. The case is prone to bending, and panels fly off like pieces of an uninspected Boeing fuselage. Everything else about this PC is solid.

AI is everywhere, even in the name of second-generation portable gaming consoles. MSI’s Claw 8 AI+ is a refined version of it last clawwhich was well, It could have been though very good This new handheld promises better performance for demanding and casual games on a pretty big screen than its competitors Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally. Although its battery life is good, the software could use some polishing. Overall, the direction MSI is going with its gaming handhelds is more promising than last time.

We didn’t expect Bowers and Wilkins to make the list of worthy gadgets this month, but the Pi8 wireless earbuds we reviewed are the best listening experiences of the year. They are small, easy to store and offer excellent audio quality for music and podcasts. They’re easier to use than most third-party buds on the market and fit a surprising variety of ear canals.
