The Trump administration has moved to terminate almost 500 employees of Voice of America (VOA) funded by Federal News.

The step is the last in the pursuit of President Donald Trump to undress the exit that the White House accused of being “radical”.

The executive director of the VOA parent agency, Carrie Lake, said the decision would “help reduce the federal bureaucracy, to improve the agency’s service and to save the American people more than their hard -to -do money.” An union representing employees called the step illegal in a statement to The New York Times.

Voa was created during World War II to oppose Nazi propaganda and became a major global operator.

The output is controlled by the Global Media Agency (USAGM), which said a total of 532 positions would be removed. The bigger part of these employees are from VOA, which will remain with 108 employees, according to a court filing.

In June, Lake has announced that 639 employees will be terminatedDespite ,,,,,,,,,,, Some employees have also filed lawsuits to block the termination.

The late Friday night message came a day after a judge ruled that the Trump administration had not followed the correct procedures in an attempt to fire Voa Director Michael Abramovitz. The judge also ordered the lake to sit for deposit where he would be questioned by lawyers.

The lawsuit was filed by a group of agency officials trying to block attempts to close VOA.

“We are finding the lake’s continuing attacks against our Abhorrent agency,” they said in a statement to the US partner of BBC News CBS News.

“We look forward to her deposit to hear whether her VoA disassembly plan has been carried out with the strict review process that Congress requires. So far we have not seen any evidence for this, and as such, we will continue to fight for what we consider our rights under the law.”

Most Voa journalists have been on administrative leave since March, but some Farsi-speaking employees have been tied as a war broke out between Israel and Iran this summer.

The notifications will also not affect journalists working at his office of the Cuba broadcasting department, which broadcasts news in Spanish from Miami.

Critics say Trump’s attempts to undress Voa is an attack on print freedom and influences America’s ability to exercise soft power abroad. The administration has accused the exit of being “anti-trump” and “radical”.

Voa broadcasts television, radio and digital content in almost 50 languages.
