The judge blocks Trump’s administration to deport Guatemalan children

An American judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s experience to deport dozens of unaccompanied children in Guatemala, back in his home country.

The District Court Judge Sparral Suoknan on Sunday was in response to reports that the children were put on planes and were about to be sent to Guatemala, where lawyers claim to be at risk of abuse and persecution.

The children arrived only in the US and are in the arrest of the government, while their immigration claims are evaluated.

Guatemala President Bernardo Arevalo and the lawyers of the US Department of Justice said that the children were not deported, but rather repatriated so that they could be reunited with the family.

The President Arevalo criticized the decision and promised to continue to fight for the children to a pilot program he offered to President Trump.

Legal production was triggered early on Sunday, when immigrant intercession groups demanded an emergency order, claiming that about 600 children could be placed on airplanes in Texas and deported.

Judge Sokanan then issued a temporary restraining order that prohibits employees from sending a group of 10 children migrants between the ages of 10 and 17 in Guatemala.

At a hastyly agreed hearing on Sunday afternoon, Judge Sukanan, who was nominated by former President Joe Biden, has expanded the order to cover all unaccompanied children who are said to be at risk of deportation. The order will be in place for 14 days.

At the hearing, Judge Suoknan sought assurances from the Trump administration’s attorneys that the planes had no longer deviated from the children on board.

Deputy Helpor Prosecutor General Drew Endain said all planes are “on the spot” in the United States. He told the judge that an airplane might have taken off, but he returned.

Ensign said flights were not part of the deportment efforts, but for family events with parents and other relatives in Guatemala.

He also said that the Guatemala government and the relatives of the children had requested the collection. The advocacy groups said this was incorrect at least in some cases.

In court documents, children’s attorneys claim that the action is in violation of federal laws intended to protect children who arrive only in the United States. They said that some of the children had pending cases to immigration judges and expressed reliable fears of returning.

“On the night of a holiday weekend, Trump’s administration has torn vulnerable, frightened children from his beds and tried to bring them back to Guatemala,” said Efren’s statement from the National Immigration Law Center that brought the case.

“We listen to the court prevented this injustice from appearing before hundreds of children suffered irreparable harm.”

White House immigration adviser Stephen Miller criticizes the judge for blocking flights.

“The minors have self -reported that their parents were at home in Guatemala,” he wrote to X. “But the Democrats judge refused to let them reunite with their parents.”

Since the beginning of his second term, Trump has made extensive efforts to eliminate undocumented migrants – a key promise of election that attracted mass support during this campaign.

In June, the The US Supreme Court cleared the road For Trump to resume deportations of migrants in countries other than their homeland, without giving them a chance to increase the risks they may face.
