Ebola in D -R Congo: New Firestick Kills 15

At least 15 people were killed in a new outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the country’s health ministry said.

The presence of the virus was confirmed in a 34-year-old pregnant woman who was admitted to hospital last month after showing symptoms involving high fever and recurrent vomiting, the ministry added.

She dies a few hours later from many organ disadvantages.

This will be the 16th hearth of the deadly virus in the huge Central African country, which has bad health services and is affected by a conflict in the East.

The last hearth is in Central Casai province, with 28 suspects being recorded, the ministry said.

Officials called on a strict adherence to preventive measures, including frequent washing hands and social distancing in high -risk areas.

Tests have identified an ebola bud strain, a rare but often deadly disease, employees said.

Four health workers were among the 15 people who died, she said.

The outbreak in 2018-20 was far more deadly, taking more than 2000 lives.

The virus, which is believed to have originated in fruit bats, was first discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River in the present Dr. Congo.

People are infected when they have direct contact through broken skin or mouth and nose, with blood, vomiting, stools or body fluids of someone with Ebola.
