The trial process begins for a “suitcase murder” suspected Hacwng Lee

A woman accused of killing her two children and hiding her remains in suitcases tries in New Zealand in the event of a high profile that shocked the country.

Hakung Lee, who was extradited from South Korea to New Zealand in November 2022, has admitted that he has not been guilty of two murder charges.

The remains of her children were found in suitcases of a family who purchased the contents of an abandoned auction storage unit in Auckland.

It is believed that the bodies have been stored there for several years.

The test opened on Monday and is expected to last for up to four weeks. The prosecutor’s office will open arguments on Tuesday, according to local media.

Given the public attention that the case has received, the judge told the jurors that the guilt or innocence of the d -should be determined on the basis of facts.

Justice Jeffrey Venening added that it was also likely that the case would be determined, “whether at the time the children were killed, Da -Lee was crazy.”

Mrs. Lee, 44, will present himself in court with two lawyers appointed by the court acting as a defender. She remained silent when she was asked to go on a legal basis on Monday.

New Zealand, who was born in South Korea, dn -lee lives in Auckland for several years before returning to South Korea in 2018.

A year before – 2017 – the father of the children died of cancer. Both children, six and eight, died some time after that, though it was not known exactly when.

Their bodies were then discovered in August 2022 after a family bought trailers of goods, including suitcases, on an online auction.

Local media reported that the sale is part of the efforts to clear abandoned items per unit of storage.

Police said buyers have no connection with death.

D -Ja Lee was arrested in Ulsan, South Korea in September 2022 after Interpol published a global red notice of her.
