While putting aside those shiny piles of plastic bricks you just got for Christmas next, even newer and shinier plastic bricks are on the way this month: from sets big and small to Marvel, DC, Star Warsand much more.

January is traditionally one of Lego’s biggest months of the calendar year in terms of sheer volume of new set releases, whether across the brickmaker’s stalwart lines like City, Creator, etc. Dreamzzz, Monkey KidBig brand crossovers like Disney, Marvel and DC superhero lines, and of course Lego Star Wars Last year closed behind its blockbuster anniversary year. But there’s more to come this month, especially with the long-awaited arrival on the gaming front mario kart lineand its return A LEGO space classic. LEGO’s adult-focused Icon series is starting the year with some big releases, including the latest modular city building, inspired by historic British architecture, and the return of the villainous Blacktron, something to tickle the nostalgia centers of any classic space fan. But there are also some more down-to-earth sets, such as a fancy fountain garden display, and a historic replica of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous design for a flying machine (which must have come with the first Leonardo da Vinci minifigure?).
