How to turn off autoplay on your social media feeds

There are a lot of time when you want videos and GIFs automatically prevented your social media feeds prevented from playing. This can be because you are trying to save cellular data, to limit the addiction of these applications or maintain better control over your viewing experience, such as any video is going viral that you don’t want to see. Whatever the reason, here are the steps to turn off autoplang videos and GIFs on popular social media platforms.

Facebook

To turn off the autoplay on Facebook, navigate your profile picture icon, which will be displayed in the navigation bar at the top right of the desktop version or below the mobile app. Then, scroll to “Settings and Privacy”, then select “Preferences” where you will find a menu option for “media”. In that menu, there is an alternative to togging video playback on your feeds and stories. Select the “Never” option.

Instagram

In the Instagram app, tap the picture of your profile at the bottom right corner. Once you move to your profile page, tap the menu icon at the top right of your screen (it is icon with three horizontal lines). Then, scroll to “Settings and Activities”, then navigate to “your app and media” where you will get “media quality”. From there, you can toggle in the “to use low cellular data” option.

It is not as stupid as setting “Autoplay content”, but if you are away from Wi-Fi it will slowly slow down things. If you do not click on a post at first, Instagram will not sound autoplay.

X (Twitter)

In the XA, navigate your profile on the top left to access the sidebar (on desktop, the sidebar is already visible). Then, select “Settings and Privacy” – it will be on the small font under the menu of the app and the mobile will have to tap three points at the end of the list to bring you more options, which include “Settings and Privacy”. Next, scroll to “accessibility, display and languages” that will open another menu with a “data usage” option, where you can turn off the “Video Autoplay”.

Access to the BlueSki menu by pressing the three-line icon to the top left corner of the mobile app, then choose “Settings” under the list. On the desktop, this menu is accessible through the sidebar. Select “Content and Media” which will display options that include “Autoplay Video and GIF”. Toggle this option.
