Vice President of South Sudan, accused of murder and betrayal

The first Vice President of South Sudan Rick Machar has been accused of murder, betrayal and crimes against humanity in the course of some fear can restore the country’s civil war.

Justice Minister Joseph Gen Akeh said the allegations against Machar were involved in an attack in March by a militia that was said to be linked to the Vice President.

The roads leading to his house in the capital, Juba, are blocked by tanks and soldiers.

The forces loyal to the Machar are fighting a five -year civil war against those who support President Salva Kiir to the peace deal in 2018.

It has been under house arrest since March, with the African Union and neighboring countries calling for peace.

The peace deal in 2018 put an end to the conflict, which killed nearly 400,000 people, but the relationship between Machar and Kiir is becoming increasingly rested against the backdrop of ethnic tension and sporadic violence.
