when The Fantastic Four: The First Step Hit theaters later this year, mark it Fourth time something Happened in a row. It has been rebooted four times in the last four decades Fantastic Four movie done And, if you can believe it, they happened about 10 years apart. Does this bode well for this new film or does it point to a new reboot film coming in 2035? Let’s break it down.

Arguably the most famous Fantastic Four The movie till date is the one released in July 2005. Directed by Tim Story, it stars Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis as Marvel’s first family. Despite mixed reviews, it was a big enough hit to get a sequel in 2007 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. It wasn’t a hit and, alas, this iteration of the Fantastic Four died (until Evans was resurrected Deadpool and Wolverine of course).

Ten years (and one month) later, in August 2015, a new version of the team was released. It was directed by Josh TrunkAnd Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell played in the group during this time. The film had its moments but ended with a troubled production displayed on the screenAnd ultimately, the film was a critical and financial failure.

Now it’s been another 10 years and again in July, yet another Fantastic Four team is on the way. Directed by Matt Shankman, this time the team consists of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. But the difference now is that since Disney bought Fox, the Fantastic Four are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

And no, we haven’t forgotten about OG. By Roger Corman Fantastic Four The film was never officially released due to rights issues, but it first hit the public consciousness in the summer of 1994. This throws off our “exactly 10 years” estimate, but only by a few months.

So, aside from the weirdness that, since 1990, is new Fantastic Four Since the teams were introduced in the film almost a decade apart (1994, 2005, 2015 and 2025 respectively), what does that say about the franchise? It’s pretty obvious, right? None of the behind-the-scenes creative teams nailed the chemistry that made the comic book characters, who originated in 1961, so successful. But maybe, just made, the fourth time will be the charm. At least we hope so. What do you think?
