“Jimmy Kimmel Live will be pre -sent indefinitely,” a Disney -owned Network -owned spokesman said in a statement.
Earlier this week, Kimmel said during his show that the Mag’s Band is trying to score political points from Kirk’s murder.
Kimmel did not comment on the BBC as it appeared shortly after a announcement from the Los Angeles television studio.
Fiating the message, President Donald Trump said it was “great news for America.”
Kimmel said in his monologue on Monday night: “Mag’s band is desperately trying to characterize this child who killed Charlie Kirk as something different from one of them and to do everything possible to score political points from him.”
The term “Maga” is short for the long -standing slogan of Trump’s campaign, make America great again and many of the US President’s supporters often wear hats and shirts wearing the phrase.
The late night’s host also criticizes flags flying half a mast in honor of Kirk, and makes fun of the reaction of US President Donald Trump to shooting.
“This is not so an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend. This is how the four -year -old mourns a goldfish,” said Kimel, who often has fun with Trump.
On the day Kirk was shot, Kimmel went on Instagram to condemn the attack and send a “love” to the family of the 31-year-old activist.
The 22 -year -old suspect appeared in court, accused of aggravated murder.
Shortly after the ABC announced that Kimmel had been stopped, President Trump wrote in a social media publication: “The ratings have caused the Jimmy Kimmel show has been canceled. Congratulations on the ABC on the end of the courage to do what is to be done.”
Kimmel is one of the best personalities of the chat show in the United States. He has made his show Jimmy Kimmel Live! Since 2003 and host the Oscars four times.
After being removed from the air, Kimmel left the studio on the Hollywood Boulevard Show, dressed in a flannel shirt and hat and retired in a car without comment.
The fans of the show, who were in line to join the audience live, expressed disappointment with the cancellation.
Janna Blackwell, who was on vacation from Virginia, told BBC: “You know, it becomes ridiculous and stupid.
“Freedom of speech. He shared his opinion and was canceled. It is strange to me.”
A small protest was also held outside the studio with a sign that says “Trump should go now.”
Some prominent Hollywood figures spoke against the stop of Kimmel, with Actor Ben Stiller shares the news Of X and comment: “This is not correct.”
The Hacks Jean Smart star that won Emmy on Sunday, wrote on Instagram The fact that she is “horrified by the cancellation”, adding, “What Jimmy said is a free speech, not a hate speech.”
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis has posted an Instagram story with one of Kimel’s own quotes earlier during the year. “I don’t believe anyone should be canceled, I really don’t,” he said in April.
Other figures showing their support included singer John Legend and actor Josh Gad, while actress Alison Brie described the news as “unreal and very scary.”
AFP via Getty ImagesThe ABC message came just after one of the largest owners of the US TV stations, Nexstar Media, said it would not broadcast Jimmy Kimmel Live! “For the foreseeable future, starting with the show tonight.”
Nexstar said the comic’s commercial remarks were “offensive and insensitive at a critical moment in our national political discourse.”
“(We) do not believe that they reflect the spectrum of views, views or values of the local communities we are in,” said Andrew Alford, President of the Nexstar broadcast department.
The chairman of the Federal Communication Committee (FCC), Brandon Carr, thanked Nexstar “for the right thing” and said he hoped other radio and television operators will follow her leading role. Currently, Nexstar is seeking FCC approval for the planned merger with $ 6.2 billion (4.5 billion British pounds) with TEGNA.
Sinclair, the largest ABC partner group in the United States, followed a suit. It says that this Friday will broadcast a special remembrance program dedicated to Kirk during the original time slot for the Kimel show.
The head of FCC Carr, appointed to Trump, earlier criticized Kimel’s monologue.
The head of the US regulator of communications said on Wednesday that the ABC host showed “the most painful behavior” and he called on Disney to take action.
“(From television operators) have a license provided by us in FCC, and that comes with him an obligation to work in public interest,” said Trump’s Trump, the Conservative Podite.
He noted that an apology from Kimmel would be “a very reasonable, minimal step.”
But Anna Gomez, the only democratic member of FCC, criticized Carr’s remarks.
She posted to X that “an inexplicable act of political violence by a violated individual should never be used as an excuse for a brighter censorship or control.”
The Writers’ Guild (WGA), the Hollywood Labor Union, condemned the decision to take Kimel from the air as a violation of constitutional rights to freedom of expression.
“Shame on those in the government who forget this justified truth,” a statement said.
SAG-AFTRA, another union, said this move was “the type of suppression and revenge that threatens the freedoms of all.”
A man familiar with Kimel’s situation told CNBC that the host had not been fired, adding that the bosses on the web intended to talk to a comedian about what he had to say when he returned to the air.
Kimmel is the newest host on a late night to see his program encounter problems, as more viewers are targeting streaming over traditional network viewing.
In July, a competitive CBS network announced that it would end the late show with Stephen Colbert next year after 11 seasons.
Network executives said this move “is not in any way related to the presentation, content or other questions of the show happening on Paramount.”
However, Colbert got into the net and her mother company because of the decision.
He accused CBS of expiration of financial figures in the press and mentioning an agreement with $ 16 million (£ 13.5 million) with Trump after suggestion the interview network his program made in 60 minutes last year with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
This payment came a few months after ABC, owned by Disney, agreed to pay $ 15 million (12 million pounds) to Trump to arrange a defamation case after his star presenter George Stefanopoulos is incorrectly said during an interview that the president was found “responsible for the wear.”
The jurors in the civil case have determined that Trump is responsible for “sexual violence”, which has a specific definition under the New York Act.
