A newborn baby buried alive in India is fighting for his life

A 20-day girl, who was found buried live in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, is fighting for survival, say the hospital authorities.

She was found by accident when a shepherd who had led her goats in the Pasha area, heard weak shouts coming from under the mound on earth.

As he approached, he saw a tiny hand protruding from the mud. After he signaled the peasants, the police were called out who came and dug the baby.

Police have not told whom they suspect the crime, but such cases of abandonment and attempts to kill female children have been accused of India’s preferences for sons, which is widely recognized as the cause of his twisted gender ratio.

The incident took place in Shahjahanpur County in the most populated country in India. The baby is treated in the ward for the intensive treatment of the neon of the government medical college and a hospital there.

The director of the Medical College D -Radzh Kumar told the BBC that the baby was brought on Monday, smeared with dirt and gasped for air as the mud entered the mouth and nostrils.

“She was in a critical condition, she showed signs of hypoxia or oxygen deficiency. She was bitten by insects, as well as some animal,” said Dr. Kumar.

“After 24 hours, we saw a slight improvement in her condition, but she has worsened since then. She has developed an infection,” he added.

D -R Kumar said she believed the baby was found shortly after she was buried as her “wounds are fresh.”

A team of doctors, including a plastic surgeon, were treating the baby and they were trying to control her infection, he said.

“The forecast is serious, but we are trying to save it,” he added.

A police officer said their attempts to track the baby’s parents had not yet been successful. The child’s assistance line was informed of the baby, the employee added.

India is known to have one of the top gender ratios in the world. Women are facing social discrimination throughout life and girls are considered a financial burden, especially among poor communities.

Campaigns claim that a traditional preference for sons means that millions of women are lost to fatid and infantile over the years.

Although most unwanted female fruits are aborted with the help of illegal sex clinics, cases of baby killings after birth are also not uncommon.
