Police in Malawi arrested eight people for suspected pollution fraud, as the country is waiting for the final results of the general elections on Tuesday.

Inspector General Merlin Yolamu said the suspects working as data entry employees are trying to manipulate the numbers.

The Malawi elections in 2019 were eclipsed by a dispute when the highest court overturned President Peter Mutarian’s victory, citing widespread irregularities.

As a result, Malawi’s election committee is on the lookout for any potential issues. The official waist so far suggests that mutarika leads the competition for the Presidency with the current Lazar Chakver in second place.

More results are expected from the 36 districts of Malawi to be released on Saturday – the applicant must win more than 50% of the vote, or a leak is carried out.

Meanwhile, the Congress of the Malawi Congress of Chakver said she had filed a complaint with the election committee, claiming that she had found irregularities in the issue.

The officials did not specify what these irregularities were.

The committee is expected to announce the result of the election only after all the votes have been arranged and checked to avoid being challenged.

According to the law, the election committee has to declare the final waist to the end of Wednesday.

In 2019, when Mutharika’s victory was canceled, the court said there was a wide seasoning, including the use of Tipp-Ex correction fluid on results sheets.
