At least three people were killed and more than 30 injured in a “massive” Russian air attack at night against Ukraine, says President Volodimir Zelenski.
He says the regions across the country were directed as part of a “deliberate strategy” for “intimidation of civilians and destroying our infrastructure”, with a direct hit of a rocket reported to a residential building.
The Air Force of Ukraine says Moscow fired 619 drones and rockets. The Russian Ministry of Defense says its “large-scale strike” used “precision weapons” and aimed at military-industrial facilities.
Separately, Russia says four people were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack in the Saratov region. Kyiv says he hit a large oil refinery there.
Ukraine also says that another Russian oil refinery was damaged in the neighboring region of Samara.
The BBC is not able to independently verify the allegations made by the two warring countries.

Kyiv is systematically directed to Russian oil and other key industrial facilities that play a key role in the continued efforts of the war in Russia in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Moscow has escalated its air attacks in recent weeks, while Kiev and its Western allies – including the United States – continue to call for cessation.

Russia has denied violating Estonian airspace.
Tensions have been escalated recently after Poland and Romania – both NATO members – said Russian drones violated their airspace earlier this month.
