Proton Pass was basically available only as browser extension, but it now has apps for Windows, Macos and even Linux, as long as you are in Fedora- or DBIan-based distribution. I originally used a pass in the browser, not just the convenient cause, because the extension is available in almost everything-the chromium-based browsers have access and have separate extensions for Firefox, Safari and daring.

The browser app has everything you need and it works on a password to capture passwords and autofil. Proton occasionally asked me to save a password a second time after I initially dismissed the capture notification. But beyond that small hiccup, I did not face any problems with the autofil for the form, login or credit card.

Inside the app you have a few features that are not available through extension. The main feature is the pass monitor, which is the protection surveillance feature of the proton. This will show you the weak passwords, accounts where you can enable 2 FA and critically, the data that has been subjected to data violations. Pass monitor is great, but there is a problem with the notifications of the violation. By default, the proton simply observes the email related to your proton account. If you import password from another app, as I did and you have different emails, they are not part of observation by default. And the proton doesn’t tell you that. You need to click on the details of the violation and add a manually address.
