Typhoon Bualoy has killed at least 11 people and has damaged or destroying hundreds of homes in the center and north of Vietnam, state media reported.
Dozens are missing or injured after the typhoon made the land on Sunday night, flooding, washing bridges and tearing roofs of buildings before weakening and moving to neighboring Laos.
Baloi has already killed more than 20 people in the Philippines since Friday.
This is the worst storm that will tingle in the region with powerful winds and rain. Last week, Super Typhoon Ragasa, the strongest storm of 2025, killed at least 28 people in the northern Philippines and Taiwan before making land in Hong Kong and China.
Typhoon Baloi packed winds of 117 km/h (73mph) when he made the land in the central Vietnam – although as he moves to Laos, his maximum wind speeds weakens to 74 km/h (46 miles), Reuters reported, citing the Vietnam meteorological agency.
Rescuers are looking for 17 fishermen who are among the missing ones after their boats were hit by huge waves. Nearly 30,000 people were evacuated to Vietnam in anticipation of a typhoon, local media reported.
Dozens of flights were delayed or canceled over the weekend.
“I stayed awake all night, fearing that the door would be drawn from strong winds,” a resident told NGHE province to Reuters.
The central province of Ha Tin was struck with eclipse after power lines were removed from the storm. The torrential rains also flooded the fields of crops.
The typhoon is expected to bring 200-350 mm rain in North Vietnam between Sunday and Tuesday, state media reported. In some parts of the country, rainfall can reach 500 mm.
Authorities urged residents to remain indoors. Vietnamese Prime Minister Fan Min Chin has issued emergency instructions to strengthen rescue and assistance efforts, state media reported.
Last week, Typhoon Ragasa made the land in southern China, where nearly two million people were evacuated. The typhoon, which caused heavy floods and landslides, killed 14 people in Taiwan after overflowing with the lake.
He left the same number of dead in the Philippines where the employees said Overall the Baloi, Ragasa and another tropical storm fee in September rose to 26S
Climatic changes exacerbate extreme weather, with typhoon becoming more strong and more frequent.
