US President Donald Trump has given Hamas a deadline for adopting the US peace plan for Gaza or to face the whole hell.
Trump wrote on his social platform for the truth on Friday that an agreement should be reached on Sunday by 6:00 pm in Washington (10:00 pm).
The plan proposes an immediate termination of the fight and release within 72 hours of 20 living Israeli hostages held by Hamas – as well as the remains of hostages, who are thought to be dead – in exchange for hundreds of detainees.
Arab and Turkish mediators are believed to press Hamas for a positive response to the proposal, but a senior Hamas figure said the armed group would probably reject it.
“If this agreement for the last chance is not reached, all hell, as no one has seen before, will explode against Hamas. There will be peace in the Middle East in the Middle East in one way or another,” Trump wrote in the social post of truth.
The deadline announced on Friday comes after Trump said on Tuesday that he was giving Hamas “three to four days” to respond to the peace plan.
Mediators have made contact with Hamas’s military wing leader in Gaza, who said he did not agree with the new plan to end the fire in the United States, the BBC understands.
It is believed that some of Hamas’s political leadership in Qatar is open to accept it with adjustments – but have found their influence limited as they have no control over the hostages held by the group.
Another obstacle for some in Hamas is that the plan requires them to hand all the hostages in the first 72 hours of the termination of the fire – they distribute their only chip to negotiate.
It is believed that there are 48 hostages who are still held in the Palestinian territory of the armed group, only 20 of which are thought to be alive.
The plan of 20 points agreed by Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and announced by the two in the White House on Monday, also says that Hamas will not play a role in Gaza’s management and leaves the door open to a possible Palestinian state.
Later, however, Netanyahu restored his long -standing opposition to the Palestinian state, saying in a video statement shortly after the announcement: “This is not written in the agreement. We said that we will strongly oppose the Palestinian state,” he said.
The plan stipulates that after both parties agree to the proposal “Full help will be sent immediately to the Gaza tape”.
He also outlines a plan for the future Gaza management, saying that “technocratic, Apolitic Palestinian Committee” will temporarily manage “with supervision and supervision by a new international transitional body called the Peace Council”, which he said will be headed by Trump.
European and Middle Eastern leaders welcomed the proposal.
In a joint statement, the United Arab Emirates Foreign Ministers, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan said they were ready to engage with the United States to finalize and apply the agreement, which should lead to a “two state decision.
The Palestinian Administration (PA), which runs parts of Israel’s occupied West Coast, called the efforts of US President “sincere and decisive”.
Trump said that if Hamas disagreed with the plan, Israel would make us support to “end the work of destroying the threat by Hamas.”
Netanyahu also said that Israel “would finish the job” if Hamas rejected the plan or did not follow.
The Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza in response to an attack led by Hamas against southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and 251 others were hostage.
At least 66,288 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since then, according to the health ministry in the territory.
