The seven al -Shabab fighters who attacked a high security prison in Somalia’s capital have been killed, the country’s government said.

A huge explosion and firing coming from Goda Jilicow, a detention center, who holds Al -Shabab fighters – in Mogadishu on Saturday night, were heard.

In a statement, Al Shabab said he had released “all Muslim prisoners” from the facility and made severe victims of those who guard the center.

The fighters have been hidden as soldiers to jail, Sonna Live government news agency said on Sunday.

The government did not indicate how many of his security powers were killed during the incident, but gave condolences to the families of the “fallen heroes”.

In the same way, Al Shabab did not give a mortality for his fighters.

The fighting started around 16:40 local time (13:40 GMT).

Geda Jilicow is located near the Somali Presidential Palace, in the heart of Movishu. It is managed by the National Somalia Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) and holds al -Shabab fighters and other high -profile detainees.

The attack is a big blow to Nisa and will probably raise questions about how fighters had access to one of the most preserved areas in the capital.

Al-Shabab has been linked to al-Qaeda and has led a brutal uprising against the Somalia government for nearly 20 years.

Hours before the attack on Saturday was carried out, the government had again opened key roads in Mogadishu, which had previously been closed for security reasons, citing improvements to the city’s safety.
