The US Supreme Court dismissed the Ghislaine Maxwell complaint against its sentence for sex trafficking.

Without providing an explanation, the court declined to hear the complaint of the former British socialist, which means that her 20-year sentence will remain in place, preventing the presidential pardon.

Her lawyer David Oscar Marcus told the BBC that her team is “deeply disappointed”, but will continue to explore the legitimate paths “to ensure that justice is taking place.”

Maxwell was convicted of her role in luring minor girls for her ex -boyfriend Jeffrey Epstein to exploit. Epstein died in prison in 2019.

The Ministry of Justice did not immediately comment on the rejection of Maxwell’s complaint on Monday.

She was recently interviewed by federal agents in the United States for what she knows as part of an investigation into the gender trafficking scheme and whether others could participate.

She was recognized guilty in 2021 to facilitate Epstein’s abuse. Prosecutors said she had appointed and maintained the girls, some for 14 years, between 1994 and 2004, before being abused by Epstein, a financier in New York.

Maxwell’s lawyers appealed the sentence, claiming that she had never had to be tried or convicted of her role in the scheme.

The speculation is complete that Trump can pardon Maxwell, but the White House said in the earlier that he “is not given or discussed leniency.”

The files surrounding Epstein’s case, including the testimony of the big jury, have become a political flash against the background of the demands that they will be released.

Maxwell was moved to a prison facility with minimal security in Texas after interviewing the Ministry of Justice Ministry employees in July. In these interviews, she denied seeing Trump’s inappropriate behavior during his interaction with Epstein.

The facility, FPC Bryant, is located about 100 miles (160 km) from the capital of Texas Austin.
