The floods in Mexico leave at least 27 dead and more disappeared

At least 27 people were killed and others disappeared, according to authorities, after floods in Mexico triggered landslides and houses, vehicles and bridges were opened.

The heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday made Rivers burst their shores. Idalgo in East Mexico was one of the most affected areas, reporting 16 deaths.

Thousands of houses have been damaged or destroyed as fast -driven water, which is headed on the streets carrying cars, while the highways were blocked with debris and cutting off electricity.

Mexico President Claudia Shainbaum said the government had deployed 5,400 staff to help communities, clear roads and give help.

She wrote on social media: “We are working to support the population, open roads and restoration of electrical services.”

In addition, 3,300 Navy helps evacuations as well as clearing the effects of floods.

In Puebla, state governor Alejandro Arment said that at least nine people had died while five others were reported missing. Approximately 80,000 people have been affected in Puebla alone, the government’s government said.

An additional two people were killed in Veracreus.

“No one was prepared for this,” said Jose Cervantes, owner of a cafe in one of the affected areas, “Reuters told the Reuters Agency.

“The flood reached a height of one and a half meters. Everything was flooded, the dining room and the whole restaurant, the kitchen, the bathroom, the game room, the private area. Everything is in a terrible state.”
