ReutersUS President Donald Trump told Israeli legislators that “this is the historic dawn of the new Middle East,” after helping to unite the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
During the first such address by 2008 President of the United States, Trump said Monday was a “day of deep joy” after “two excruciating years”.
Trump’s address to the Israeli Parliament, Kenitset, comes on the day when the last 20 living hostages held in the Palestinian enclave were released by Hamas.
Israel launches 250 Palestinian prisoners and more than 1,700 other Palestinians detained during two -year Gaza military operations.
During the swirling trip to the region, Trump is also expected to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Mira Summit, Egypt, along with Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and other world leaders.
