India and Canada have agreed many steps in conversations between their Delhi foreign ministers aimed at restoring the relationships that fell after Sikhist separatist leader was killed on Canadian soil.
Canada Foreign Minister Anita Anand, making his first official visit to India, met with his colleague S Jaishankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Modi told her that the visit would strengthen the “efforts to convey a new momentum” to the partnership of both countries.

Following the meeting of their foreign ministers in Delhi, the two countries have announced a series of measures, including start -up discussions at the ministerial level on bilateral trade and investment.
“The restoration of this partnership will not only create opportunities for increased economic cooperation, but will also help to mitigate the vulnerabilities arising from the shift of global unions,” a joint statement said.
Signs of thawing have appeared this year since Mark Carney has taken over as Canadian Prime Minister.
In June, Carney and Modi held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada. Two months later appointed countries New supreme commissioners to the sides of each other.
Anand and Jaishankar also met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September.
On Monday, Jaishankar said the bilateral relations of India Canada are constantly advancing in the last few months.
“When we look at Canada, we see an additional economy. We see another open society. We see diversity and pluralism,” he said, adding that this is “the basis for a close sustainable and long -term cooperative frame.”
“We are collectively committed to progressing this relationship now and in the long run, especially as far as our mutual priorities in the Indo-Tithia Ocean,” Anand said.
The two countries will resume the CEO of Canada and India, which brings together leaders from both sides to increase bilateral trade and investment. The announcement comes when Delhi deals with a 50%penalty tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump on Indian goods.
Anand will also meet with the India Minister of Trade Piyush Goyal to discuss the promotion of trade relationships before visiting Mumbai to talk to business leaders of investment and economic opportunities.
She will then travel to China and Singapore as part of Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, which focuses on deepening the country’s engagement in the region.
