The Andrew Cuomo Campaign Is All in on MAGA Influencers

With only 13 New York City’s mayoral election is days away, former governor Andrew Cuomo Partner with some of the same influencers who helped President Donald Trump won the White House last year.

But instead of trying to shut down Mamdani’s online support, Cuomo appears to be trying to shut down support from GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa.

“It’s a desperate swing,” said one Democratic strategist who spoke to Wired on condition of anonymity to speak candidly without involving the firm where he works. “The apparent desire to align himself with power at any cost, wherever that power may be, is one of the reasons he’s been rejected so harshly online. It’s a misunderstanding of the moment.”

“I’m sure his mentors are giving him advice like ‘you need traction online’ and they want to get it at any cost,” the strategist told Wired. “It’s the same kind of consultancy brain where they think they need to grow up and get attention without realizing that the attention Zohran is getting is not paid for. It’s coming from creators who believe in him and see his vision as their vision.”
