Video shows the moment Olympic kitesurfer Bruno Lobo rescued a woman who appeared to be drowning in the sea.

The athlete was practicing with a new camera while kitesurfing off the coast of Sao Luis in Brazil when he heard someone scream.

Lobo, who is also an orthopedic doctor, helped the woman onto his back and used his kite to carry her to shore.

The woman showed up to meet friends on the shore and get away from the beach. “I just did my duty” and was “in the right place at the right time,” Lobo said in a self-shot Instagram video.

The athlete said he wanted to use the opportunity to warn people on social media that “the sea is really very dangerous” and “the tide can drag you out to sea”.
