LAGUNA HILLS, Calif.–( BUSINESS WIRE )–BrainChip Holdings Ltd (ASX: BRN, OTCQX: BRCHF, ADR: BCHPY), the first commercial manufacturer of ultra-low power, fully digital, event-based, neuromorphic AI. , today announced the addition of the Akida ™ processor to provide cybersecurity protection for WiFi access, a home router, with an innovative technology offering for small businesses. Enterprise routers and other network access devices.
Quantum (NASDAQ: ) Ventura has partnered with Cyber Neuro-RT (CNRT) to provide technology. Lockheed Martin (NYSE: ) MFC Division of the Company and Pennsylvania State University with partial funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. BrainChip provides edge-to-edge neuromorphic processing to facilitate on-chip learning to detect a specific attack on the network. Akida’s small form factor provides lower power consumption than GPUs, overcoming the form factor and power limitations of Internet-connected devices that are otherwise unsustainable.
CyberNeuro-RT is the only game in town to implement cybersecurity support that cannot rely on a central server, says Sirini Vasan, president and CEO of Quantum Ventura. Having the BrainChip’s neuromorphic capabilities integrated directly into the CNRT allows it to identify threats to devices that would otherwise be vulnerable to exploitation.
Akida’s application to CNRT is a direct result of BrainChip and Quantum Ventura’s previously announced partnership to develop state-of-the-art cyber risk detection tools for the US Department of Energy under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The result of this collaboration will enhance BrainChip’s ability to work with partners to bring edge AI computing to the next generation of products and markets.
Akida’s neural processor and AI IP can detect unrecognizable repeating patterns in noisy data, which is useful for cyber threat detection. Once Aqida knows what normal network traffic patterns look like, it can detect malware, attack signatures, and other malicious activity. With its unique ability to securely learn on-device, Aqida quickly learns new attack strategies without the need for cloud retraining, allowing it to easily adapt to emerging threats.
BrainChip IP supports additive learning, on-chip learning, and high-speed performance with microwatt to milliwatt power budgets, for advanced AI/ML devices such as intelligent sensors, medical devices, high-end video-object recognition, and ADAS/autonomous systems. Akida is an event-based technology that consumes less power than conventional neural network accelerators, providing energy efficiency and high performance for partners to deliver AI solutions on previously battery-powered or support-less embedded edge devices.
In today’s always-connected, always-on world, there is an increasing need for cybersecurity solutions that can thwart attacks from other insecure network-connected devices, said Sean Hehir, CEO of Brainchip. We are proud of our work with Quantum Ventura to integrate threat detection using AI on a neuromorphic platform to provide high quality protection against cyber security threats. Akida’s learning on a chip provides faster and more cost-effective analytics capabilities by adapting to new threats and moving unknown threats to the cloud.
