In Parable of the Sower, A fire-ravaged California endures Climate change is the future that is now real. A 1993 speculative fiction classic, American science fiction the writer Octavia E. Butlerwho lived in nearby Altadena, predicted the devastating fires of Los Angeles.
The Afrofuturist’s grave is located in Altadena, which was hit hard by the recent wildfires that displaced thousands of Californians. But his tomb survived: Ap Altadena shared a photo of the location, citing a statement on the Mountain View Cemetery’s Web site and reporting that it sustained “minimal damage.” Butler passed in 2006 and a quote from “What you touch, you change. What you change, changes you,” is written on his pedestal. Parable of weaving.
