(Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to hit the European Union with tariffs and said his administration is discussing a 10% tariff on Chinese imports because of fentanyl exports from China to Mexico and Canada.

During his first term in office, Trump had imposed high tariffs on China, he said in a statement to reporters at the White House. He said the European Union and others had a serious trade balance with the United States.

“The EU is very, very bad for us,” he repeated his comments on Monday. “So they’re going to go in for a tariff. It’s the only way … you’re going to get justice.”
