A man has been arrested in Indiana after police say he made several TikTok posts calling for the assassination of President Donald Trump. The FBI arrested Douglas Thrums on January 23, 2025 after he allegedly posted several videos in which he advocated the violent overthrow of the United States. “Every US government building needs to be bombed immediately,” he said in a video. According to court records.
as First reported by Court WatchThrums is a 23-year-old resident of South Bend, Indiana, who did not take well to Trump’s return to the White House. The FBI said Trump began posting a series of videos calling for Trump’s assassination after his inauguration on Jan. 20.
The FBI said that, in one video, Thrums held a rifle in his hand and tapped it. “A friendly little reminder (Taps Rifle) that we have Second Amendment rights. Our Declaration of Independence states the right to take control of the government and perhaps even establish a new one. So I ask the question again — when, where, what time, give me the coordinates,” he said, according to a transcript of the video in court records.
“As long as other people are going to show up, I’ll show up. I will bring my second amendment. In fact, I will bring up my Second Amendment rights as much as possible. But I just need to know when we’re going to do it, where we’re going to do it, how we’re going to do it, um, because it needs to be done. It needs to be done. This time there is literally no way out except violence. I’m sorry.”
In the video where he talks about bombing government buildings, Thrums also discusses Trump’s assassination. “In reference to President Donald Trump, Thrums said ‘he needs to be killed and this time, don’t miss,'” according to the criminal complaint.
In video transcripts shared by the FBI, Thrums called for a leader; He did not style himself as the head of the movement. “You tell me where to show this goddamn weapon and we can go Nazi hunting,” he said, according to court records.
In the same video, Thrams said, ‘It is in our Declaration of Independence that if we see fit, we the people see fit, we are being controlled by a tyrannical government, or simply an evil one, that we are legally allowed to. Use our rights, laws, amendments and constitutions to take control of said government, perhaps even implement a new one if necessary. So yes, I’m down for the cause. Like I said, I’m down to paint the town red, but I’m not leading shit. Just tell me where to go.’
The FBI charged Thrums with “threatening to commit an injury to interstate communications,” a felony that carries a maximum sentence of five years.
