Zuma resigned as president in 2018 after nine years of service, struck by accusations of corruption, which he claims to be part of a political conspiracy.

Three years later, he was sentenced to 15 months in prison for disrespecting the court after refusing to testify before a group investigated corruption under his presidential.

The protests erupted after he surrendered to serve his sentence.

During the excitement, Zuma-Sambudla was honest with X, often sharing images of destruction and chaos, accompanied by the inscription: “KZN, we see you.”

She uses this phrase often throughout all violence. In an already deleted post, she shared a video of someone shooting with an automatic President Cyril Ramafosa poster rifle.

Last year, the Human Rights Commission in South Africa (SAHRC) released a report stating that the riots were “a carefully orchestrated event”.

But she said she couldn’t find a direct connection with Zuma’s arrest.

In 2023, a former security guard was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in the deadly riots.

He was the first person to be persecuted for the riots.

President Cyril Ramafosa, who inherited Jacob Zuma in 2018, described violence as a “attempt to uprising.”

More than 200 shopping malls were looted and more than 150,000 jobs were evaluated, which were lost during the unrest, which lasted several days.

Last year, Zuma MK runs against his former party, Anc, in elections, winning 15% of the vote to become the third largest party in the country.
