Congo President Felix Tshiziekedes promises the “energetic” response of the M23 rebels in GOMA

Congoan President Félix Tshisekedi has sworn to restore the state power to the east, where the Rwanda -supported rebels M23 have seized control over the city of Goma and reported to be south to take more territory.

In a television address to the nation, he said he was in the “energetic and coordinated answer” against what he calls “terrorists.”

He criticizes the international community for “inaction” and for not doing enough after the escalating security crisis.

The weekly insult from the rebels encouraged warnings for an oncoming humanitarian crisis and increasing international pressure to end the fighting.

East African regional virtual summit on Wednesday night, convened by Kenya President William Ruto, Which tshisekedi puzzledcalled for “peaceful settlement of conflicts”.

It was attended by Paul Kagame from Rwanda, along with the leaders of other countries -Member States Burundi, South Sudan, Tanzania and Somalia.

State heads “categorically called on the Government of D -Congo to directly engage with all stakeholders, including M23 and other armed groups that have complaints.”

Tshisekedi refuses to talk directly to the M23 – insisting only to talk to Rwanda.

East African leaders also called for a joint meeting at the summit of the block and the leaders of the South African Regional Community (SADC) to “deliberately on the way forward”. C Congo is a member of both the East African community and SADC.

Tshisekedi paid tribute to SADC soldiers, “struggling with us” and the UN forces, who died after the rebel attack on Goma.
