Swiss tax authority forced to buy Bahamas domain name after URL typo

As the Swiss News Outlet SRF Reports, Basel Tax Administration printed the flyers that were supposed to include an URL to file tax online. However, the top-level domain (CCTLD) of the Swiss Country Code “.ch” was excluded, leaving only the Basel-Star suffix of “.BS”-which only happens as a CCTLD in Bahamas.

A spokeswoman for the Basel-Stader’s Finance Department told SRF that a batch of new flyers would cost about $ 100,000 to print and send, so instead there was no brain to find $ 1000 to manage the new domain.
