Amazon has speakers A new look—and new leaders—with the brand’s new lineup of Echo devices Amazon’s fall hardware event In September announced the next border Alexa powered speakerBut surprisingly, none of them were fifth-generation Echoes. Instead, Amazon has focused on two specific speakers: the Echo Dot, now renamed the Echo Dot Max and used by the original, full-size Echo, and the immersive speaker powerhouse that’s now in its second generation.
Perhaps Amazon is finally planning to pare down its lineup to focus on the best of the best. we did Long recommends the Echo Dot and Echo Studio As some of the best in Amazon’s overflowing Echo lineup, and Any other smart speaker manufacturer Offer many options. Several Echo models, including the screen-equipped Echo Show 10 (which looks set to replace the new-generation Echo Show 8 and 11, which launched in November) and the once-flagship Echo, were also limited to Zero this year. There’s still a wide range though, and perhaps Amazon’s new strategy is to get a higher price tag on the popular Echo Dot model and let the speakers choose. Echo Pop Inexpensive alternatives take the role.
Will it pay off? Will Amazon’s lineup finally get a little more focused? We will have to wait and see. For now, it’s safe to say that both the new Echo dot Max and the 2nd gen Echo Studio are great in sound performance and at doing what smart speakers do best: answering questions, especially Amazon’s new assistant, Alexa+Included right out of the box. But they cost a lot more than using the flagship Echo and Echo Dot.
These two models of Echo speakers have a new design: a circular body with an indented center, reminiscent of a speaker dust cap. In that indent you now find the volume button and mute button. The top now has a touch control, which you can tap to instantly pause or resume music (The app has an option to turn off touch controls if they’re not up your alley.) The light-up ring that tells you when Alexa is listening is now around that indent, and both models feature a smart home hub built into the Studio, but not the old Echo Dots.
