All glances are directed to Egypt, as the indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel in the Gaza War will begin on Monday, with the US and Israel insisting on the rapid release of hostages.
The conversations come after Hamas agreed with some parts of the 20-point peace plan of the United States, including the release of hostages and the transfer of gas management to Palestinian technocrats, but seeks negotiations on other issues.
The group’s response does not mention the key demands of its disarmament and did not play a future role in Gaza’s management.
In the meantime, Israeli air strikes continued in Gaza, although President Donald Trump told Israel to “immediately stop the bombing” on Friday after Hamas responded to the proposed plan.
Israeli government spokesman Shosh Bedrosyan told reporters on Sunday that “until some attacks have actually stopped inside the Gaza Strip, there is no termination of fire at that moment.”
The buddy said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave orders “to fire for defense goals … If there is a threat to their life in the battlefield in Gaza.”
Gaza reports say Israel continued air strikes and a fire of tanks overnight and Sunday, destroying a number of residential buildings in Gaza.
A BBC correspondent heard explosions on the inside of Gaza and saw smoke while he was near the border in Kibbutz Bay, Israel, on Sunday morning.
Another 65 people were killed by Israeli military operations every 24 hours leading until noon, Gaza Health Ministry said.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told the US partner of BBC News CBS News that bombing should stop to facilitate hostage release.
“You can’t release hostages while bombing is still happening … This should stop, but you also have to work through the other logistics,” he told CBS News Face the Nation on Sunday.
“We want to get the hostages as soon as possible,” he added.
The 20 -point plan offers an immediate termination of the fight and the release of 48 hostages, only 20 of which are thought to be alive, in exchange for hundreds of detainees.
Netanyahu said on a television address on Saturday that he hoped to announce the hostage “in the coming days”.
The Prime Minister “has made it clear that in an agreement with the negotiations on the Trump administration, it will be limited to a few days,” said the buddy on Sunday.
Israeli negotiations will head to Egypt on Sunday night for decisive conversations that will begin on Monday. US Special Messenger Steve Vikof and Catari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al -Thani will also be present.
The conversations are expected to be among the most following the war of the war and could determine whether the path to ending the conflict is finally available.
Many Palestinians described Hamas’s answer to the peace plan as unexpected, after days of indications that the group is preparing to reject, or at least a strong condition that it accepts Trump’s proposal for the peace plan.
Instead, Hamas refrained from the inclusion of his traditional “red lines” in the official statement, a move that many interpret as a sign of external pressure.
A senior Palestinian employee familiar with the conversations told the BBC that Catari, Egyptian and Turkish mediators played a major role in the persuasion of Hamas to reduce his objections and leave controversial points such as the fate of his weapons, the post -war gaza and his other concerns about the negotiation table.
Many gazan warns that this tactical flexibility carries a significant risk.
Each additional day of delay means more deaths, the destruction and displacement of hundreds of thousands of gazan.
However, Hamas’s decision to enter into the conversations without explicit prerequisites can also be considered as a recognition of its limited lever after nearly two years of war.
Trump, when asked by Jake Tapper from CNN, what would happen if Hamas insisted on staying in power in Gaza, replied in a text message that the group would encounter “complete deletion”.
The US President has published on social media that Israel has agreed to the initial line of withdrawal to Gaza, the first in a proposed series of withdrawals from the Israeli forces.
According to data on the distribution of the population in the Gaza tape, the withdrawal card published by Trump will initially exclude nearly 900,000 Palestinians from their return to their homes.
The proposed lines carve Rafa in the southernmost edge, Bate Hanun and Bate Lakhia to the north, nearly a quarter of Gaza, and half of Khan Einnis and Deir al-Bala in the center and south.
Hamas rejected such a card during previous circles of conversations in March and May this year.
The Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza in response to an attack led by Hamas against southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and 251 others were hostage.
Since then, 67,139 have been killed by Israeli military operations in Gaza, the health ministry said.
International journalists were banned from Israel from entering the Gaza Strip, regardless of the beginning of the war, making it difficult for claims from both sides.
So far, the region is holding its breath as the negotiators prepare to gather in Egypt, hoping that despite the deep distrust and political fragility, this circle can finally open the way to the cessation of fire.
