Guiana President Irfaan Ali has stated a second five -year service of service, even when the official final results of the general election on Monday are yet to be published.
The progressive Ali (PPP) party provided at least 242,000 votes in the poll, asking the majority in eight of the 10 districts in the South American country, according to the Reuters Agency.
We are investing in nationality (WIN), a new political party, founded only three months ago, came second with about 109,000 votes.
The 45 -year -old Ali is campaigning to use the huge oil reserves of the country discovered in 2019 to improve infrastructure and reduce poverty, while navigating the territorial tension with the neighboring Venezuela.
It is not yet clear how many places each party will have in the 65-member parliament, but the current Vice President of Jarat Jagdeo told the local media that PPP will have a “greater majority” than in the last 2020 elections.
Despite the more turnout than in the last elections, PPP seems to increase its share of vote – while long -term opposition – a partnership for national unity, continued third.
Much of these elections focused on how parties will manage the revenue from massive oil reserves discovered by the oil giant ExxonMobil in 2019.
From 2019 of 2019, the company claims that it has found oil on billions of barrels in Gayan waters and territory – causing the state budget to refuse.
With a population of about 800,000, Guiana now has one of the highest levels of proven reserves of crude oil per capita in the world -and is one of the fastest growing economies in the region.
But opposition parties say there is an unfair distribution of oil profit to PPP groups, accusations that the ruling party denies.
Businessman Azruddin Mohamed, the leader of the victory party, suggests that he votes irregularities in the Monday election, even when he celebrates the party by “shaking the pillars of Guiana’s political establishment.”
Observers from the organization of US countries were located in Guyana for the elections and have not yet reported cases of election fraud.
The election came the day after the Guian police said a boat Wearing Election and Varses was “shot by the Venezuelan coast” – in the contested ESEKIBO region.
Venezuela denied being behind the incident – which came when the two countries were locked in a dispute over competitive claims to the oil -rich region.
