Self -self -self -self -instructed multsurgery rose from childhood poverty to international fame – with Miles Davis, he calls him the most important musician on the planet. ”
He was “surrounded by family and fellow musicians,” says a statement that reported his death. He did not give details.
Pascoal wrote more than 2000 instrumental tracks and continued to arrange music and record performers in their 80s.
The artist was mostly a pianist and fluid, but he also plays saxafo, guitars, drums and accordions – and often included household items in his work.
As he recorded his debut album Slaves Mass for Warner Brothers in 1976, he imported a pair of pigs live to the studio.
Born on June 22, 1936, in a rural village northeast of Alagos, he is not able to work outside with his family for his albinism and teach music while spending his days indoors.
At 10, he began playing dancing and weddings before he continued to play Forró and other traditional Brazilian music throughout the region.
At the end of the 1950s, he moved to Rio de Janeiro and opened the jazz scene of the city, playing in nightclubs and joining a radio orchestra.
Its combination of jazz and traditional folklore styles has caused the attention of the largest stars of Brazil in the genre.
Singer Alice Regina performed with Pascoal as well as a percussionist Airto Moreira.
The latter accompanied him on a tour of the United States, where he was presented with Miles Davis.
But although he won the respect of the luminaries in the world of jazz, Paskol rejected the label as a jazz musician and said he owed so much to Brazilian music like Chorinho and Samba.
“When they think I’m doing one thing, I’m already doing something else … It’s very liquid,” he told Jazz World in 2022.
The Pasquol family announced his death on his Instagram page on Saturday.
He urged people to “leave a notan ring – from an instrument, voice or kettle – and to offer it to the universe” if they wanted to honor it.
